Although I don’t get up “early”, morning time has quickly become one of my favorite things about the day. After Aria was born, I fell out of my “early to rise” routine and started to sleep in again. It’s hard to feel rested when you’re up nursing a few times during the night.
Recently, Ari has dropped her night time feedings… Curly wakes up around 7am every morning and that’s about the time Aria gets hungry.. My morning goes something like this;
I wake from a deep sleep, to soft whimpers and happy coos.. I feel to my right, checking to see if Curly is awake—right about the time I notice praise music playing in the distance. Aria grows a bit more persistent for my attention. I whisper “good morning, mama’s love” and like clock work, an enormous grin overrides the oh so pitiful fussing.
I bring her into bed with me to nurse, we doze off and on, talk a little, and have starring contests. Around the time she’s finished, her giggles come out. She begins to find everything amusing! I shoot Curly a text (don’t judge) to see if he wants to grab the little love. Immediately he comes for la babe and takes her in the kitchen..
I get a few more “Zz’s” or check my messages while listening to the absolute best sound I’ve ever known—my dearest love teaching our baby how to make “mama’s special coffee”. With music in the background, her giggles loud enough for me to distinguish and him trying every cartoon voice he knows to keep that sound spilling out it’s simply perfection.
Then it gets better.. Curly brings me coffee in bed and persuades me to join them.
I make breakfast, he prepares for work, while our cheery eyed Belle just watches life intently. We eat and have family worship..
A kiss for my man—and he is off to work.
I pour a little more coffee, grab my bible, my baby, and “My Ordinary Joy” planner, sit cross legged on my bed and begin another day.
I’ve had to really watch my milk production recently,
so this Crazy-Oats recipe my Sissy showed me, has been a life saver—literally. XD
-1 cup is oats
-1/2 cup of water
-1 Tbl Chia seeds
-1/4 cup of coconut flakes
-pinch of salt
-1/2 almond milk
-1/4 cup of honey
-Chopped fruit of choice (I like apples)
-nuts of choice (I like walnuts personally)
– chocolate chips
1. Bring water to a boiled and add oats, chia, and coconut flakes. Add in salt and cinnamon.
2. Turn heat to low and let simmer. When water is absorbed, begin adding the almond milk until desired consistency (I like mine thick). Add in honey and fruit.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk egg. Pour egg over the oat mixture and stir vigorously for about 1 minute.
4. Scoop some in your bowl, stir in about 1 teaspoon of coconut oil and garnish with nuts and chocolate chips.
See you soon!
